Team Peloton Road Racing program is built for the Junior cycling athlete who is ready to commit to a full season of racing in the Front Range of Colorado and competing in Junior State Championship races. The program is designed to build on the abilities learned in the earlier season program and is for an athlete that has had some type of bike racing experience. The program lasts three months - June 1 to Labor Day - in the heart of the Colorado road racing season.
The focus of the program is to build to peak endurance fitness and further develop advanced bike racing skills. Race tactics and racing skills will be taught, including drafting technique, sprinting, time trialing, hill climbing, pace line riding, and team tactics.
The program will emphasize participation in the Junior Road Races and Junior State Championship races sponsored by the Bicycle Racing Association of Colorado. This program will also prepare racers to participate in Category 4/5 races, when appropriate, and start a progression to Category 3 level racing if desired.
Open to all children who will be 11 years old by Dec 31, 2022, as well as all First Time Team Members between the ages of 13 and 18 (again, by Dec 31, 2022).
Program Cost: $ 650
2nd+ child(ren) from a family will receive a 15% discount.

* Note: "Racing age 11" means athlete will be 11 years old by Dec 31, 2022, according to USA Cycling rules. Younger riders who have previously raced/trained should speak with the Coaches to be considered for joining the team.

- 30 outdoor coached sessions at various locations around Denver
- The training groups are split based on age and ability
- 6 team supported weekend races:
- FRCC will support two Team Races each month, held on weekends
- Supported races include race-day on-site coaching and mechanical support
- Participants welcome to race on their own at other races, representing FRCC
- State Championship Races: All Junior State Championship Races will be supported team races
- Group Training Plan available on TrainingPeaks for all athletes to continue training progression outside of the coached rides
- All Athletes will receive an end of session coach evaluation
Logistics
- Dates: June 1 to Labor Day
- Monday & Wednesday, mornings
- Practices held in morning to avoid afternoon weather and traffic. If weather is a factor rides will move inside.
- Locations:
- Outdoor Practices: various locations around Denver
- Cherry Creek Reservoir, Chatfield Reservoir, Bear Creek Reservoir, Lookout Mountain
- Older Age Groups and advanced riders will ride on open roads outside of the above locations when appropriate
- Indoor Practices (if needed, due to weather): tbd
- Outdoor Practices: various locations around Denver
- Age: Minimum Racing age of 11 for 2022*
- Requirements: Basic Bike Handling Skills and Ability to Ride a Bike 30 miles.
